IRENE L. SMITH, Artist - RAIN
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from California State University, Northridge, which included classes in Art History and Visual Style. While getting my degree, I studied Calligraphy, Lettering & Typography, and Drawing for electives. I never knew my "for fun" classes would lead to working in Marketing/Advertising for Film, and then to being a daily painter. I was fortunate to have some great teachers along the way, one of which was my late Uncle Peter, who taught me to draw when I was a little girl. His nickname for me was Rain, it is in his honor that I sign my work RAIN.
My goal is for my paintings to take you away, or give you a view when you don't have one. Be it a landscape, a seascape, wildlife, or a ballerina.
I love when my paintings draw people in, and make them wish they could be there.
